AURA100 started? How did you get this idea?

The development started initially from the market analysis and claims on systems of this type. Currently the existing unmanned VTOL aircraft with an electric drive that can lift payloads up to 100 kg are not widely used via very short flight duration. Nevertheless, such tasks are found quite often in different sectors of the national economy.
After analyzing the situation, we identified a segment of tasks in which the use of manned aircraft is impractical for economic or security reasons, while unmanned aircraft systems are unable to perform due to limited lifting capacity. We made a choice of this capacity and started working. After that, there was a search in terms of layout and technical solutions, the choice of the scheme of the helicopter, powerplant and so on, as a result of which we formed a configuration which was embodied in AURA100.

What activities are to be carried out after UAS delivery to the customer and its assembly?

After the helicopter is assembled, we perform start-up and adjustment operations and factory tests – a few flights in order to verify performance capabilities of helicopter systems.
Of course, each helicopter goes through several production stages earlier with quality verification at the beginning and the end of each stage. In fact, quality issues regarding all processes in the company are of the most importance for us.

Could you tell us more about the work at each testing stage? What do you need to
get to consider the stage has been completed?

Digital Specialist
Each testing stage is carried out according to its own program and test procedures. The condition for the transfer to the next stage is the absolute fulfillment of the points of the test program. For example, I can say that only the list of settings, calibrations, checks and adjustments takes up several pages.

What are we supposed to expect from AURA100 UAV in the future?

We constantly increase the intellectual capacity of the system in order to
minimize the dependence on the human factor. For example, we added a radio altimeter to the system last month in addition to lidar, that allows us to expand the possibilities of the helicopters in conditions of "extreme" solar and optical activity. We see that agencies and companies involved in extinguishing fires, especially fires in high-rise buildings, are highly interested in our technology. This is primarily related to the features of the coaxial rotor scheme of the helicopter, which allows it to lift a universal fire hose with foam connected to a fire truck to the altitude of up to two hundred meters. And this mission requires creating a specialized modification of the helicopter. Another branch of AURA100 design is the development of a hybrid and fully "electric" version of unmanned aerial vehicle AURA100, that provides an opportunity to move towards improving of environmental friendliness and safety. One of important directions of evolvement is the transition from an unmanned system to an unmanned ecosystem, by which I mean primarily integration with the existing ground and air infrastructure of manned aircraft. This can also include the creation of new infrastructure elements, starting, for example, with a delivery system and automatic loading and unloading in a logistics modification of the helicopter.
